COVID Spending & Social Procurement

Nov 24th, 2020

The government has had to spend into incredible debt amounts to respond to the crisis. A question on many people’s mind is “how will we recover from the debt and build back our economy?”

Through Social Procurement, we can shift our spending to provide the best value for governments and communities and start building back a better economy.

Governments can purchase needed goods, services, and construction while simultaneously investing in local businesses, diverse owned businesses and support social enterprises.

“The concept of social procurement is to leverage a social value from existing purchasing, not spend more, but add value to current spending.”

David LePage

In a time when governments need to get the greatest impact from the limited dollars they have to spend… and entering a period of restraint and accountability, the responsible thing to do is accelerate and amplify social procurement.
